I have transferred some of the Siouxland<br \/>\nYouth Hockey material to the <strong>MetrosStuff<\/strong> site, as much of this material is relevant to the history and<br \/>\nsuccess of the Sioux City High School teams over the years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/syhastuff.com\/SYHAstuff.com%20Logo%20Header.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #065212; font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><strong>The Bubble<\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">In the Summer of 1981 Siouxland Youth Hockey Association (SYHA) embarked on a plan to provide their own hockey facility<br \/>\nseparate from the <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">City owned Auditorium. Ice time costs were at a premium, as the poor economic conditions of the late 70&#8217;s<br \/>\nwere taking hold <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">into the next decade<\/span><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #065212; font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 16px;\"><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/syhastuff.com\/The%20Bubble%20SYHA%20%20street%20level%20bubble%20in%20Tenn%201.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"277\" border=\"2\" \/>\u00a0\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/syhastuff.com\/The%20Bubble%20SYHA%20%20street%20level%20bubble%20in%20Tenn%202.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"277\" border=\"2\" \/><\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>An inflatable ice rink was located in Jackson, Tennessee, and eventually purchased by <\/span><span style=\"color: #065212; font-family: 'times new roman', times; font-size: 16px;\">SYHA. It was transported<br \/>\nvia truck to South Sioux City and erected there, through mostly volunteer efforts, primarily during evenings and weekends.<br \/>\nSYHA family members of all ages contributed their time and construction know-how, while many Sioux City businesses<br \/>\ndonated labor, materials, and services. Currently, this is where the Marina Inn Convention<br \/>\nCenter is located. The site was chosen because of its proximity and access to Sioux City. This would be home for SYHA until 1985 when youth hockey would return<br \/>\nto the Sioux City Auditorium.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; font-family: 'times new roman', times; color: #065212;\">For the second year in a row&#8230;<strong>Ted and Mary Jo Carlson<\/strong> (Musketeers Owners 1981-2000) would perform <em>above and beyond<br \/>\nduties<\/em>, making sure that SYHA would not miss a season.
